New coach by next week: PCB offers long term contracts to Kirsten and Ronchi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to finalize the appointment of new coaching staff for the Pakistan cricket team by next week.

PCB officials are currently in discussions with Gary Kirsten from South Africa and Luke Ronchi from New Zealand for coaching roles within the national team, following refusals from Shane Watson, Mike Hesson, and Darren Sammy.

Both Kirsten and Ronchi have requested time to consider the offers. They have been presented with long-term contracts but want to consult with their families and friends before making a decision.

While senior players have shown interest in participating in the coaching appointments, they have not yet been consulted. However, they have no objections to foreign coaches, given their familiarity with them from various franchise leagues.

In addition to foreign coaches, the PCB plans to involve local coaches as well. Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul already have existing two-year contracts with the board.

The PCB officials are proceeding with caution and confidentiality in handling the coaching matters as they work towards finalizing the agreements.
