Akhtar wants Babar to shuffle batting, bowling order

ISLAMABAD: Shoaib Akhtar, a legendary fast bowler, was upset that Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe in their T20 World Cup Group 2 game at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Zimbabwe chose to bat first; Mohammad Wasim Jr. came back into the team and took four wickets; Zimbabwe scored 130/8.

In response, Pakistan fell short by just one run, thanks to Brad Evans’ brave last over. During his game analysis, Akhtar criticized the team’s strategy and said Babar Azam was not a good captain.

“I don’t know why it is so hard for you guys to understand. I have said this before, and I am saying it again with our top and middle order, we can achieve big success. We can’t win consistently. Pakistan has a bad captain. Pakistan is out of the World Cup. Nawaz has bowled the last over in the three games we have lost,” Akhtar said.

Akhtar also pointed out the things that Pakistan needs to change, such as the order in which Babar bats.

“Babar should bat one down. A major flaw in Shaheen Shah Afridi’s fitness. The major flaw in the captaincy and major flaws in the management. We will back you, but what brand of cricket are you playing? You can’t just walk into a tournament and expect that the opposition will let you win,” he added.

Pakistan’s next Super 12 match will be against the Netherlands on Sunday. A loss, however, might end their T20 World Cup run.
