Korea arrive in Islamabad for Pakistan hockey test series

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host an official bilateral international hockey series at home for the first time in nearly 20 years after the Korean national team arrived in Islamabad for a four-match contest approved by the International Hockey Federation.

The matches are scheduled to be played in Islamabad on July 30, August 2, August 4 and August 7, 2026, giving both sides competitive exposure ahead of upcoming major international events.

Pakistan Hockey Federation president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani described the visit as a significant moment for the sport in the country. He said, "This is a proud and memorable occasion for Pakistan hockey. After almost two decades, we are once again welcoming an international team to our home grounds."

He added that the federation was extending "a warm welcome to the Korean National Hockey Team" and said the series would deepen the longstanding friendship between the two countries while promoting high-quality international hockey.

The federation said the tour signalled growing confidence within the international hockey community in Pakistan's ability to stage top-level sporting events in a safe and professional environment.

The PHF also thanked the government, security agencies and other stakeholders for helping make the tour possible, and urged fans from across the country to attend the matches and support the national side.
