11 Lahore police officials booked over raid on AGP’s home
Punjab police have booked 11 officials, including an SHO, after a mistaken raid on Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan’s Lahore residence. The SHO has since obtained interim bail from a court.
LAHORE: Punjab police have booked 11 officials, including the station house officer of Sarwar Road police station, after a raid was mistakenly carried out at the Lahore residence of Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan.
Police said the raiding team had information about a neighbouring house but entered Awan’s residence during the operation. A first information report states that the officials exceeded their authority, and the SHO along with 11 personnel were charge-sheeted.
Awan’s driver, Irfan, alleged that the SHO climbed over the gate and entered the house with other personnel while only household staff were present. He said police removed the CCTV camera system and later returned the digital video recorder after deleting the footage.
Irfan said Awan was attending a meeting and reached the house after being informed of the raid. He also alleged that flower pots outside the residence were damaged. Meanwhile, the SHO of Sarwar Road police station has secured interim bail from a court.
