Aleema asks PTI workers to get ready for march on Adiala Jail

ABBOTTABAD: Aleema Khan on Sunday called on Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers to unite behind an August 5 march on Adiala Jail, saying convoys from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would head to Rawalpindi to seek the release of party founder Imran Khan.

During rallies and receptions in Abbottabad, Mansehra and Battagram, she said party workers, leaders and organisational wings should work together ahead of what she described as the next phase of the movement. Referring to the planned campaign, she said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had announced a “semi-final” movement for August 5 and had assigned PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar to organise it.

In Abbottabad, Aleema addressed gatherings at Missile Chowk in Mandian and at Fawara Chowk, the city’s main entrance, where she urged supporters to prepare for the march and maintain unity within party ranks. “Pakistanis are waiting for you. You should lead,” she told workers.

Two demands over Imran Khan’s jail conditions

Aleema presented what she described as a two-point agenda linked to Imran Khan’s release, calling for improved medical treatment for the former prime minister and an end to his solitary confinement.

Speaking in Battagram at Khatam-i-Nabbuwwat Chowk, she criticised the federal government and institutions over his detention conditions and said he had been kept in solitary confinement for the past nine months without proper medical care. She said, “Imran Khan is in prison for the freedom of the nation. He has no personal agenda to make himself wealthy or to get into the corridors of power. His ideology revolves around the common people of this country.”

At a reception in Shinkiari, Mansehra, hosted by PTI MNA Shahzada Gustasap Khan, Aleema said she had come to seek support from the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for her brother’s release. “We will march to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to secure release of your incarcerated leader,” she said.

Hazara outreach

The visit formed part of her tour of Hazara Division and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aimed at mobilising PTI workers and improving coordination among party lawmakers.

In Abbottabad, she was received by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and ex-speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani along with PTI MNA Ali Khan Jadoon. At one point during her address, she said, “When sisters are compelled to come onto the streets to seek justice, it means all limits have been crossed by transgressors.”

Aleema also alleged that statements attributed to Imran Khan and circulated in the media were fabricated.
