PM inaugurates Sky47 data centre and AI cloud in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated Sky47, described as Pakistan’s largest data centre and AI cloud facility, in Islamabad.

Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said the project had a capacity of 8.5 megawatts and called the newly opened facility impressive. He said it had been completed in record time and reflected the capabilities of professionals drawn from both the military and civilian sectors across the country.

Shehbaz also referred to Sky47’s expansion plans, saying the company was developing another 5MW data centre at Port Qasim in Karachi, with completion scheduled for September. He said it was a privilege to attend the inauguration and expressed confidence that Pakistan could narrow gaps with other countries if it followed the same model of development.

The prime minister also praised Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying the data centre had been built under his supervision. During his remarks, Shehbaz said,

“The facility we have just visited is awe-inspiring,”

and described the project as an example of what Pakistan could achieve through coordinated effort.
