Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan is a top priority and pledged the best possible protection. He also said Pakistan-China business agreements signed in Islamabad were worth nearly $440 million.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that protecting Chinese citizens in Pakistan remains a top priority, as he addressed the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical and Healthcare B2B Investment Conference in Islamabad.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister said the government would do everything possible to ensure their safety. He said:
“I would like to say with fullest force at my command that the security of Chinese brothers and sisters in Pakistan is paramount for us, it is most important. And we will leave no stone unturned to provide them with the best possible security,”
The conference also featured the signing of several agreements between Pakistani and Chinese firms in healthcare, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. According to PM Shehbaz, the combined value of the agreements was nearly $440 million.
The prime minister’s remarks came two days after Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry said security was being strengthened around the Chinese-operated Saindak copper and gold mine in Balochistan after terrorists disrupted supply routes in the region.
