QUETTA: Security forces killed five more terrorists in the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, taking the number of militants killed in the operation to 76, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported on Monday, citing security sources.

The operation was launched after the July 7 attack in the Mangi Dam area in which 27 police personnel were martyred. Operation Shaban is being conducted jointly across the province by the army, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police.

Radio Pakistan said security forces were pursuing militants through both aerial and ground action. It also quoted security sources as saying that 114 terrorists had been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations in Balochistan since July 5.

A day earlier, seven terrorists were killed during the same operation, which had pushed the Operation Shaban toll to 71, according to Radio Pakistan. The latest reported deaths have now raised that figure to 76.
