LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday paid glowing tribute to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai for her unwavering commitment and sacrifices in advancing girls’ education, describing her as a proud daughter of Pakistan and a global symbol of peace, knowledge and resilience, while separately urging people to embrace hope, courage and determination as the driving forces behind progress and prosperity in her messages on Malala Day and World Hope Day.
In her message on Malala Day, the chief minister said Malala Yousafzai is the daughter of Pakistan and a symbol of peace and knowledge for the world. She added that Malala’s struggle for girls’ education is a guiding light for young people across the globe.
Maryam Nawaz said that Malala Yousafzai’s determination demonstrates that the power of education can bring about positive change in society. She said that Malala’s efforts for the promotion of education would not go in vain.
The chief minister further stated that Malala Yousafzai has conveyed to the world that girls’ education is a guarantee of progress and peace.
She said that concrete measures are being taken in Punjab for the education, rights and welfare of girls. “Obstacles in the path of education will no longer hinder the journey of educational progress,” she added.
CM Maryam Nawaz also remarked that Malala’s commitment serves as an inspiration, proving that education has the strength to transform societies positively.
CM urges hope and resilience on World Hope Day
Meanwhile, in her message on World Hope Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that when people demonstrate courage and determination, the light of hope transforms into the radiant sun of conviction.
She said hope is an emotion that gives people the strength to move forward, adding that the day serves as a reminder that despite difficulties and challenges, one should never lose hope.
The chief minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had become the hope of the people. She added that the government was working day and night to fulfil the expectations of the people of Pakistan.
Punjab CM expressed the hope that the people of Punjab would now receive better healthcare facilities and that every homeless person in the province would realise the dream of owning a home.
She further said she hoped every farmer in Punjab would witness lush crops and enjoy prosperity.
The chief minister said hope enables people to find a ray of light even in the darkest moments of despair.
She added that the public had hoped that with the return of the PML-N, laptops, scholarships and free medicines would once again be provided.
