Petrol, diesel prices raised for next fortnight

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the next fortnight following a revision based on international oil market trends.

Under the latest notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.60 per litre to Rs272.15 per litre, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs5.27 per litre to Rs284.35 per litre.

The revised prices took effect from July 11 and will remain in force until the next fortnightly review.

The government reviews petroleum prices every 15 days, taking into account fluctuations in global oil prices, the exchange rate and applicable taxes and levies.

The latest increase is expected to raise transportation and logistics costs, with possible spillover effects on the prices of essential goods and services.
