Woman booked for acid attack on man in Kasur

KASUR: Police have registered a case against a woman accused of throwing acid on a man near Rangpur village in the limits of Saddar police station on Tuesday, while a separate incident in the district involved a woman who allegedly tried to jump into a canal with her two children over a domestic dispute.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Rimsha Bibi, called Ehsan and asked him to take her to Rangpur village on his motorcycle. Police said that after reaching a deserted spot, she allegedly took a bottle out of her purse and threw acid on him before fleeing the scene.

Police said Ehsan belongs to Kot Molvi Abdul Qadir and had previously divorced three women. According to police, he wanted to marry Rimsha Bibi, who was divorced two months after her own marriage and currently worked at a departmental store. Police said the woman was unaware of Ehsan’s previous marriages and, after learning about them, decided to take revenge.

The injured man was first moved to the District Headquarters Hospital and later referred to Lahore. Police said the substance used was diluted acid, which caused minor injuries. Investigators have opened a case and said further inquiry is under way.

Woman and children stopped at canal

In another incident on Tuesday, a 29-year-old woman, Mehwish Bibi, and her two minor children were stopped from allegedly attempting suicide by jumping into the Jamber Canal in the limits of Phoolnagar Police Station.

According to details cited by police, Mehwish had been living with her second husband, Amjad Ali, after divorcing her first husband, Yasin. Police said Ali had refused to keep her two children from her previous marriage, Aziz, 8, and Azan, 4, at home. Following a dispute over the issue, she allegedly went to the canal with the children.

Passersby intervened before she could jump, and local residents later contacted Rescue 1122, which took the three to its office. On Mehwish’s request, rescue officials called Yasin and handed the children over to him. Local police were looking into the matter.
