Under the proposed programme, interest-free loans of Rs500,000 will be provided for the renovation and structural strengthening of houses with weak roofs or dilapidated buildings. In addition, interest-free loans of Rs1 million will be made available in easy instalments for families wishing to construct an additional storey or floor.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” and “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” (My Land, My Home) programmes. Participants were presented with a report on the successful participation of the Punjab Pakistan Pavilion in Baku, along with a special documentary highlighting the initiative.
The meeting was informed that interest-free loans had been approved for more than 180,000 homeless families under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme, while loans had already been disbursed to 170,000 families.

The briefing noted that Rs217.8 billion had so far been released for the programme, while around 27,500 houses were in the final stages of completion.
Officials further informed the meeting that 134,343 houses had already been completed across Punjab under the programme, while more than 1.278 million applications had been received from homeless families seeking assistance.
CM Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities to release the second instalment under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme within the next three days.
She said good governance was reflected through timely and practical measures rather than statements during times of crisis.
The meeting formally approved the introduction of a new Rs1 million interest-free loan category for constructing an additional floor, as well as a Rs500,000 loan category for repairing damaged, unsafe and weak roofs.
The briefing further stated that 2,000 residential plots had been distributed in 23 districts under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” programme. A separate report on rehabilitation and development work in those areas was also presented.
The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to further simplify the process for obtaining housing loans, saying that easier access would enable more deserving families to benefit from the government's housing initiatives.
She further directed that the 2,000 homeless families who had already received free residential plots under the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” programme should also be provided interest-free loans for the construction of their houses.
Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government would extend every possible support to help families make unsafe, weak-roofed and dilapidated houses secure and structurally sound.
Describing “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” and its allied initiatives as flagship programmes of the Punjab government, she stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in their implementation.
The Punjab CM further directed that no additional financial burden should be placed on poor families and that there should be no change in the existing eligibility criteria or procedures for obtaining housing loans.
