Sindh moves to make 'I Work for Sindh' into permanent employment programme
The Sindh government has decided to turn I Work for Sindh into a permanent employment programme. Officials say the digital platform will be expanded to improve youth access to jobs, skills support and career guidance.

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to convert its pilot initiative, I Work for Sindh, into a permanent public employment programme aimed at widening access to jobs for young people through a centralised digital platform.
The decision was announced during a high-level meeting of the Information Department chaired by Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon. Participants at the meeting agreed on a broad plan to further strengthen and modernise the platform, with the stated objective of improving access to employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors across the province.
Addressing the meeting, Memon said the initiative had quickly developed into an effective online link between employers and job seekers. He shared performance figures for the portal, saying it has logged more than 4.8 million visits, attracted over 113,000 registered job seekers and 670 registered companies, and currently lists 11,100 active vacancies.
According to the minister, a total of 20,800 jobs have been posted on the platform since its launch. He added that more than 419,000 job applications have been submitted through the portal so far, reflecting what the government sees as strong engagement from users.
Memon also said the platform includes an automated CV creation tool to assist applicants in preparing job documents. In addition, he said it features a Learn and Earn section intended to help young users build skills that are in demand in the market.
The provincial government is also planning to introduce live career counselling sessions led by industry experts. These sessions, according to the meeting, are expected to provide users with guidance on professional development, career planning and employment-related advice.
The move to institutionalise the portal signals the government’s intention to expand the initiative beyond its pilot phase and place it within a more formal employment support framework for Sindh’s youth.
