MQM-P reviews budget proposals and urban Sindh agenda

ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) held a consultative meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to review the party’s position on the recently passed Federal Budget 2026-27 and discuss its broader political strategy, according to a party spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the meeting was attended by former Sindh governor Kamran Tessori, senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar and Syed Aminul Haque. Participants examined MQM-P’s proposals related to the federal budget and discussed how the party would pursue its demands with the federal government.

According to the spokesperson, the meeting also took up constitutional amendments linked to Article 140-A, a proposed development package for urban Sindh, and the party’s strategy regarding the return of the Sindh governorship to MQM-P.

The spokesperson said the party decided to engage the relevant authorities to push for the completion of ongoing development schemes and seek fresh projects for Karachi and Hyderabad in the new fiscal budget.
