Gulberg Town presents Rs3.61 billion budget

LAHORE: Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah on Monday tabled a Rs3.61 billion budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, setting aside Rs1.53 billion for development spending and outlining a programme focused on civic works and social sector initiatives.

Speaking in the town council, Nusratullah described the coming fiscal year as a period centred on development and said the administration planned record road construction. He said the budget would prioritise education, health, and programmes for women and young people.

The chairman said Rs50 million had been earmarked for the Education Card scheme, adding that the allocation had been significantly increased to extend support to a larger number of students. He also announced plans for a new gym with separate timings for men and women, along with Town Mobility Services that will include shuttle facilities and bicycle stations on link roads.

Among other measures announced in the budget, Nusratullah said all government schools in the town would be restored, an AI faculty would be established, and the Dr A Q Khan Tech Space would be inaugurated in the coming days. He added that a new health unit would be set up in Naseerabad on the model of the Samanabad Primary Health Unit, while parks, playgrounds and libraries would also undergo upgrades.
