Court issues non-bailable warrants for Sohail Afridi

ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he did not appear in a case linked to alleged statements against state institutions.

The matter was taken up by Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah. During the hearing, the court noted Afridi’s absence and ordered law enforcement authorities to arrest him and produce him before the court.

Afridi is facing proceedings over allegations that he spread misleading claims against state institutions and harmed their reputation. The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

The court’s order came during ongoing proceedings in the case before the Islamabad court, where Afridi’s non-appearance led to the issuance of the warrants.
