HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation has rejected complaints of a breakdown in water supply, saying distribution is continuing under schedule despite persistent reports from residents of prolonged shortages during the summer heat and Muharram.
HW&SC Chief Executive Officer Tufail Abro said the corporation’s field teams, engineers and technical staff were working around the clock to keep supplies flowing to household consumers across the city. He said pumping stations had been fitted with heavy-duty generators so that operations could continue during power interruptions.
Referring to arrangements for Muharram, Abro said the utility had made special provisions for mosques, imambargahs, majalis venues and procession routes. He also said Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro was personally overseeing water supply measures during the religious period and claimed that complaints about shortages were being handled without delay.
