NCCIA, UMT sign MoU to expand cyber security collaboration

LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) have signed a memorandum of understanding to build academic and research cooperation in cyber security.

The agreement was signed on Saturday and focuses on strengthening education, innovation and digital defence work in Pakistan. NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem said the partnership was intended to deepen cooperation in the cyber security field.

“The strategic partnership is aimed to strengthen cyber security education, innovation, and digital defence in Pakistan,” he said.

Under the arrangement, the two institutions will work together on research and development projects in cyber security and will also seek national and international research grants. The NCCIA will hold workshops and seminars for UMT faculty members and students as part of the knowledge-sharing component of the agreement.

The agency will also guide and mentor final-year student projects under its Tech 2.0 Initiative, with support covering areas including blockchain, cloud computing and malware analysis. In addition, NCCIA representatives will join the university’s advisory board to support curriculum updates in line with emerging technology trends and cyber security needs.
