At just 25, Jennifer Bahadur becomes GB Assembly’s youngest member

ISLAMABAD: At an age when many law graduates are still figuring out their first career move, Advocate Jennifer Bahadur is heading to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The 25-year-old lawyer has been allocated a reserved seat for women in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly on a PML-N ticket, making her the youngest member of the newly formed house.

The reserved seats were allocated by the Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission after the notification of successful candidates elected on general seats earlier this month.

While several experienced political figures secured reserved seats, it was Jennifer's age and background that quickly caught attention online.

Born in Hundur, Yasin, in District Ghizer, Jennifer completed her schooling in Gilgit-Baltistan before moving on to study law at the International Islamic University Islamabad. She graduated with an LLB degree in 2025 and is currently practising before district and family courts in Islamabad.

Her political roots run deep. Jennifer comes from a family already active in public life, with her father, Advocate Niat Bahadur, serving as a senior lawyer and General Secretary of PML-N Ghizer.

But politics isn't her only achievement.

Alongside securing a seat in the assembly, she has also been awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship to pursue a Master of Laws degree at Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Her appointment means one of Pakistan's youngest elected lawmakers will now be part of the legislative process in Gilgit-Baltistan — a milestone that has sparked conversations about youth representation and the growing role of young women in politics.

Whether she becomes a major political figure remains to be seen, but at 25, Jennifer Bahadur is already starting her political journey earlier than most.
