During the warm and cordial exchange, the Prime Minister congratulated the Saudi Crown Prince on the signing of the historic Islamabad Peace Deal and expressed deep appreciation for his consistent and steadfast support for Pakistan’s peace diplomacy.

He paid tribute to the Crown Prince for leading the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with wisdom and foresight during a critical period, noting that Saudi Arabia’s support, along with that of other Gulf states, played a key role in facilitating the peace agreement between Iran and the United States within a short span of time, the PMO said.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in turn, congratulated the Prime Minister and lauded the tireless efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which contributed to the successful conclusion of the peace deal.

Both leaders agreed that it was now essential to ensure smooth progress in the next phase of Iran-US negotiations, with all outstanding issues addressed through dialogue and diplomacy. They also stressed the need for vigilance against any attempt to derail the ongoing negotiation process.

Expressing satisfaction over the strong state of bilateral relations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were ready to finalise and sign a comprehensive economic package under the Crown Prince’s patronage. He also reiterated his invitation for the Crown Prince to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time, the statement added.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed his respectful regards and best wishes for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination in the days ahead.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had signed the landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) in September last year, under which an attack on either country is treated as an attack on both.
