National Assembly suspends PTI MNA Iqbal Khan Afridi for current session

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Thursday approved a motion suspending PTI lawmaker Iqbal Khan Afridi from the rest of the ongoing session over allegations of misconduct inside Parliament.

The motion was moved by Farah Naz Akbar and was passed by the House. It sought the suspension of Afridi's membership for the full duration of the current sitting period.

According to the motion, the MNA used abusive language against the National Assembly Secretariat's director general (media) during proceedings held on April 3, 2026. It also alleged that he issued threats during the incident.

The motion further stated that Afridi had repeatedly behaved improperly with police and security personnel deployed at Parliament, as well as with the Chair. On the basis of those allegations, the House voted to suspend him for the remainder of the session.
