Pakistan ranked 7th most generous country in the world

Pakistan has been ranked the seventh most generous country in the world in the World Giving Report 2026, marking a significant rise from its 17th-place position last year.

The ranking, released by the UK-based Charities Aid Foundation and highlighted by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, places Pakistan among the world's leading nations for charitable giving and community support.

The report assessed 105 countries based on several indicators of generosity, including donations to charitable organisations, direct assistance to people in need, religious giving and civic participation.

According to the findings, 83 percent of Pakistanis donated money in some form over the past year. Around 57 percent contributed to charitable organisations, while 59 percent provided direct financial support to individuals or families in need.

Religious giving also remained a major component of philanthropy in the country, with 37 percent of respondents reporting donations through religious channels.

The report found that Pakistanis donated an average of 1.9 percent of their income, nearly double the global average of one percent.

Researchers noted that charitable giving in Pakistan remains strong despite economic challenges and continues to outperform many higher-income countries in terms of public participation.

A significant portion of philanthropy in Pakistan also takes place through informal channels, reflecting longstanding traditions of community support and direct assistance.

According to the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, the improved ranking highlights the country's deeply rooted culture of generosity and the growing confidence of citizens in charitable initiatives.

The report's findings position Pakistan among the world's leading examples of public generosity, driven by both formal charitable contributions and widespread community-based support networks.
