ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday granted post-arrest bail to two suspects, including Dr Nadir, in the illegal kidney transplant case despite opposition from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Civil Judge Ahmad Shahzad Gondal heard the bail pleas of Dr Nadir and another accused. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court approved the applications and ordered their release.
The two suspects were granted bail against surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.
During the hearing, FIA officials opposed the requests, arguing that further investigation was still needed. The agency told the court that granting bail at this stage could affect the ongoing inquiry and hamper efforts to collect more evidence.
