Authorities shocked as citizen owns 421 vehicles

LAHORE: Traffic police in Lahore have found that 421 vehicles were registered under the name of a single citizen after officials stopped a motorcyclist to verify ownership documents.

The check led authorities to identify Baz Muhammad as the registered owner of 421 motorcycles, rickshaws and other vehicles. Officials said the registration system flagged the unusually large number of vehicles linked to the same individual, prompting further scrutiny by traffic police.

During the verification, police also found that more than Rs2.088 million in e-challans was pending against the registered vehicles. The motorbike involved in the check was impounded and moved to Muslim Town police station for further investigation.

The action comes after Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi ordered intensified operations against e-challan defaulters as well as suspicious or potentially fake vehicle registrations across the city. Traffic officials said an inquiry was under way to determine whether the registrations were connected to fraudulent activity.
