LAHORE: Security remained tight across the provincial capital during the Eidul Fitr holidays, with police stepping up monitoring at parks, public spaces and other key locations, alongside a broad crackdown on violations of the law.

Officials said additional personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of citizens at sensitive and crowded areas throughout the city.

At the same time, police launched action against activities such as one-wheeling, aerial firing, public display of weapons and alcohol consumption. A total of 29 cases were registered against 35 individuals for one-wheeling, a risky stunt commonly seen during festive days.

In operations against aerial firing, 10 suspects were booked in seven cases and four pistols were recovered. Meanwhile, 26 cases were registered over the display of weapons, with police seizing 22 pistols, two rifles, a shotgun and hundreds of bullets.

To maintain law and order, pickets were established on major roads across the city to strengthen monitoring and ensure public safety.
