ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 14 militants in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Basima district, while one soldier was martyred during the exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the military’s media wing said the operation was carried out on June 8, 2026, in the Naal area of Basima district after information was received about the presence of militants linked to what it described as the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan.
The ISPR said the militants were planning attacks on a nearby police station and banks in the area. It said security forces moved quickly after receiving the intelligence and launched the operation to prevent what it called the militants’ planned actions.
According to the statement, troops blocked the movement of the militants and engaged them during the operation. After what the ISPR described as an intense exchange of fire, 14 militants were killed and several others were wounded.
The military’s media wing further said that four vehicles being used by the militants were destroyed at the site, along with improvised explosive devices.
During the fighting, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas was martyred after, according to the ISPR, fighting gallantly.
The statement said sanitisation operations were continuing in the area to clear any remaining militants and secure the locality.
The ISPR added that counterterrorism operations under the national security framework Azm-e-Istehkam would continue at full pace to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
