LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said the province had entered a new era of “one-stop agriculture input markets,” with farmers for the first time being provided comprehensive agricultural services and facilities under one roof close to their villages.

According to an official statement, four Model Agriculture Malls have been established in Punjab and are fully operational, while the chief minister has directed authorities to take immediate steps to set up similar facilities in 10 additional districts.

The statement said the malls in Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Sargodha are providing farmers with agricultural inputs, expert consultation services and a range of modern farming support facilities at a single location.

Farmers can also rent modern agricultural machinery from the malls, which are being managed by the GCCI in collaboration with the private sector.

The statement added that Model Agriculture Malls would soon be established in Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara and Khanewal, while similar projects are also planned for Rajanpur, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, Attock and Mianwali.

“The Punjab government will continue taking every possible step to facilitate farmers and improve their livelihoods,” the chief minister said.

“The destiny of Punjab’s farmers has changed, and better days have arrived,” she added.

Maryam Nawaz further said that Model Agriculture Malls would be established across all districts of Punjab in phases to expand access to modern agricultural services and strengthen support for the farming community.

CM grieved over workers’ deaths

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the death of three workers who were electrocuted in Multan.

She extended her heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and sought a report on the incident from the relevant authorities.
