LAHORE: The farmer-friendly and visionary initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz are transforming the lives and livelihoods of the province’s farming community, said a handout from the Punjab DGPR.
Under her directives, farmers are being supported through the distribution of green tractors, wheat and rice combine harvesters, super seeders, and other modern agricultural machinery. In a record achievement, 30,000 tractors have been distributed in just two years, with over 20,000 green tractors already delivered and an additional 10,000 in the pipeline, said a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Through the CM High-Tech Mechanization Financing Program, farmers now have access to advanced machinery, including combine harvesters and high-power tractors, backed by a loan allocation of Rs30 billion for farmers and service providers.
Additionally, 5,000 super seeders have been distributed at a cost of Rs4 billion, significantly improving wheat sowing efficiency and contributing to a gradual reduction in smog through the use of rice super seeders.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that mechanization is steering Punjab’s agriculture towards modern farming practices, reducing costs while boosting productivity. She urged farmers to move away from outdated traditional methods and adopt modern machinery to enhance agricultural output and sustainability.

Earlier this month, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of Punjab’s first-ever Sports City in 2027 and declared that the Khelta Punjab Pink Games would be expanded to the tehsil level, with plans to take the initiative down to the union council level in the future.
Addressing the inauguration of the Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026 at Punjab Stadium, Nishtar Park Sports Complex, she announced Rs20 million in prize money for women athletes and directed authorities to ensure special arrangements for their care, accommodation, and meals.
The chief minister hailed female athletes as the “Super Daughters of Super Punjab” and lauded Provincial Minister for Sports Faisal Khokhar, the secretary, DG Sports, and the organizing team for successfully hosting the event.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted women’s capabilities, saying they can lead a country, a province, and key institutions. “A woman can fight a war, fly an aircraft, serve as chief minister — and give men tough competition,” she remarked, stressing that merit and talent know no gender.
