Water infrastructure project picks up pace

Technical evaluation for six bidders in Rawalpindi's Dream Water Supply Project-I has been completed and sent to the ADB for approval. The Rs20.4 billion scheme is due for completion by December 2027.

Water infrastructure project picks up pace

ISLAMABAD: Technical evaluation has been completed for bids submitted by six companies seeking the re-award of two contract packages under Dream Water Supply Project-I in Rawalpindi.

A report on the evaluation has been sent to the Asian Development Bank for final approval of the contracts, which have a combined estimated value of Rs20.4 billion. The next step will be financial bidding among companies that meet the technical criteria.

The contract is expected to be awarded within the next month. The contracts will be awarded on the basis of joint ventures between Pakistani and foreign firms.

Once completed, the scheme is expected to add 12 million gallons per day of water to Rawalpindi from Chahan Dam and another 5 million gallons per day from Rawal and Khanpur dams. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2027.
