A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 tipped onto its nose at Frankfurt Airport after its nose landing gear retracted while parked. Several staff suffered light injuries and the flight to Los Angeles was cancelled.

FRANKFURT: A Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner tipped onto its nose at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday after its nose landing gear unexpectedly retracted while the aircraft was parked, the German airline said.
The incident happened at 12:45 pm (1045 GMT), shortly before passengers were due to board the plane for a scheduled flight to Los Angeles. A Lufthansa spokeswoman told AFP,

Lufthansa said cabin crew and ground staff were on board the aircraft at the time, and several people were injured and were receiving medical treatment. The airline did not say how many people were hurt or how serious the injuries were. Later on Thursday evening, another Lufthansa spokesperson told AFP that those injured included two crew members and that all had suffered only light injuries.
The airline said it was reviewing the exact circumstances of the incident with the relevant authorities. The Los Angeles flight was cancelled. Lufthansa also said the damaged aircraft was expected to be moved to a hangar as early as Thursday evening for further inspections before repairs. According to Aerotelegraph, the jet is one year old and was delivered to Lufthansa in January.
