President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned National Assembly and Senate sessions for June 5 as the federal budget process for FY2026-27 moves forward. The schedule suggests the budget may be presented in the second week of June.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned separate sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate on June 5 as the government moves ahead with the federal budget process for fiscal year 2026-27, according to an official press release issued by the Presidency on Friday.
The press release said the National Assembly session has been called for 5pm on June 5, while the Senate will meet at 6pm the same day.
Meetings of the Annual Plan Coordination Committee and the National Economic Council are scheduled in the first week of June. These forums review economic and development performance during the outgoing fiscal year and set targets for the next one.
The schedule indicates that presentation of the federal budget in parliament may move to the second week of June instead of the first week, as earlier planned by the relevant authorities. The government is set to approve a consolidated national development programme of more than Rs3.5 trillion and a macroeconomic framework that projects economic growth of 4.1 per cent and inflation of 8.5pc.
