PPP leader, son obtain protective bail in hit-and-run case
A double-cab vehicle and its driver allegedly involved in a February 15 hit-and-run in Hyderabad have reportedly been traced after nearly three months. PPP local leader Ishrat Mughal and her son Aqib Mustafa Samo have obtained protective bail in the case.

HYDERABAD: A double-cab vehicle and its driver allegedly linked to a hit-and-run incident that left three restaurant workers dead and another injured in Hyderabad on February 15 have reportedly been traced after an investigation spanning nearly three months.
The accident took place in the early hours on Wadhu Wah Road near DHA Phase II. The victims were employees of a local eatery and were on their way home after shutting their restaurant in Naseem Nagar, Qasimabad, when their motorcycles were hit by the vehicle.
Three workers — Akhtar Wahab Syed, Aleem Samejo and Naseer Mangrio — were killed in the collision, while another employee suffered injuries.
Case registration and investigation
Police registered a first information report after a complaint was lodged by Ameenul Wahab, the brother of one of the deceased men. However, investigators were initially unable to establish the identity of either the vehicle or the driver involved in the case.
This remained the position despite the possibility that the route fell within the coverage of CCTV cameras installed along major roads in the city. Questions have since been raised about the time taken to trace the suspects and the lack of certainty in the early stages of the police inquiry.
Protective bail from SHC bench
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party local leader Ishrat Mughal and her son, Aqib Mustafa Samo, approached the Hyderabad Circuit Bench of the Sindh High Court and obtained protective bail in connection with the case.
The vehicle and driver allegedly involved in the fatal incident have now been identified after months of investigation.
The case relates to a crash that claimed the lives of three workers returning from their jobs and has drawn attention because of the delay in identifying those allegedly responsible. The development involving the tracing of the vehicle and the grant of protective bail to the PPP leader and her son marks the latest step in the case.
