ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the prices of kerosene oil, light diesel and jet fuel by more than Re1 per litre, with the revised rates taking effect immediately across the country, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.

The latest adjustment applies to three petroleum products and comes as international oil markets continue to fluctuate and global energy costs remain elevated. Officials said the new prices have already been enforced nationwide.

Revised fuel rates

Under the notification, the price of kerosene oil has been raised by Rs1.71 per litre. Following the increase, kerosene will now be sold at Rs313.44 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs311.73 per litre.

The government also revised the price of light diesel upward by Rs1.62 per litre. With the new adjustment, light diesel is now priced at Rs275.54 per litre compared with the earlier rate of Rs273.92 per litre.

Jet fuel used in aircraft has also become more expensive. The notification showed an increase of Rs2.10 per litre, taking the new price to Rs332.32 per litre from Rs330.22 per litre.

Immediate implementation

Officials confirmed that all revised prices came into force immediately after the issuance of the notification. The changes affect fuel categories used in household, transport and aviation-related consumption.

The increase in rates was announced against the backdrop of continued volatility in global oil markets. Officials linked the revision to broader pressure from rising energy costs internationally.

The official notification detailed each of the revised rates and indicated that the updated prices would apply with immediate effect. The latest move adds to the cost of petroleum products covered under the announcement, including kerosene oil, light diesel and aviation fuel.

The revision was limited to these products in the notification cited by officials on Saturday. The updated rates are now applicable across the country.

The increase in kerosene, light diesel and jet fuel prices reflects the government’s latest adjustment in response to changing market conditions in the energy sector. Officials said the revised pricing structure has already been implemented, while the notification set out the exact increase for each product and the corresponding new retail rate.
