CM Maryam orders officials into field as Punjab finalizes Eidul Azha arrangements

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday directed administrative and police officers across the province to remain actively present in the field during Eidul Azha instead of staying confined to their offices, as the provincial government finalized extensive arrangements aimed at ensuring security, cleanliness and public facilitation throughout the holidays.

Chairing a high-level video-link meeting to review Eidul Azha arrangements, the chief minister issued comprehensive directives to all deputy commissioners and district police officers, warning that negligence, laxity or poor implementation of official instructions would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
In a major step to maintain sanitation during Eid days, Maryam Nawaz ordered the imposition of a Rs50,000 fine on individuals found throwing animal waste and sacrificial offal in streets, neighbourhoods, drains and canals.
She also directed authorities to strictly enforce restrictions on the sale of sacrificial animals only at designated cattle markets and ordered action against illegal livestock trading in unauthorized areas across the province.
The meeting was informed that digital monitoring and surveillance operations would remain active at cattle markets, while stringent security arrangements would be put in place to prevent incidents of cattle theft, robbery and other criminal activities during Eid.

The chief minister further directed authorities to ensure a complete ban on banned organizations collecting sacrificial hides and prohibited the use of loudspeakers at hide collection camps.
Special security measures and continuous combing operations were also ordered in sensitive areas, while district administrations and police were instructed to strictly enforce the ban on display of weapons and aerial firing during the Eid holidays.
Maryam Nawaz additionally directed authorities to perfume Eidgahs and mosques with rose water and ensure cleanliness in railway colonies, cantonment areas and private housing societies.
She ordered uninterrupted water supply during Eid holidays, mandatory display of fare lists at bus terminals and inside public transport vehicles, and directed authorities to cover dumping sites located near airports.
The meeting also decided to ban temporary swings across Punjab, while instructions were issued for safety and security inspections of amusement rides installed in parks and recreational spots.
Authorities were further directed to conduct cyber patrolling to curb the spread of hate material on social media platforms during the holidays.

All deputy commissioners and district police officers participating in the meeting were instructed to ensure strict implementation of Eid standard operating procedures (SOPs), with the chief minister warning of strict action in case of non-compliance.
‘PML-N government setting new benchmarks in public welfare’
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz thanked the people of PP-83 Khushab following the unopposed victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Sardar Zafar Abbas Baloch in the by-election.
Congratulating the successful candidate and the voters of the constituency, the chief minister expressed gratitude to the people of Khushab for extending their support to the ruling party.
Maryam Nawaz said the unopposed victory in the PP-83 by-election reflected the growing public confidence and popularity of the PML-N.
She said the mission of public service under the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would continue with renewed commitment.
The chief minister further stated that the PML-N government had set a record by launching the maximum number of public welfare and development projects within the shortest span of time.
Protection of forests, wildlife crucial for ecological balance: CM
Separately, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the protection of forests and wildlife was essential for maintaining ecological balance and ensuring the survival of life on Earth.
In her message on the International Day for Biological Diversity, the chief minister said biodiversity formed the foundation of life on the planet and preserving the natural environment was a collective national responsibility.
She said effective and sustainable measures were being implemented across Punjab for the protection of endangered species and conservation of the natural ecosystem.
Maryam Nawaz said a special force and helpline had been made operational to curb illegal hunting activities in the province.
She added that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, women had also been inducted into the regular wildlife force for the protection, conservation and care of wildlife.
The chief minister said Wildlife Helpline 1107 had been activated for complaints and assistance, while modern systems and GPS trackers had also been introduced for the first time for wildlife monitoring and census operations.
She stressed that raising public awareness regarding the importance of natural resources and preventing environmental degradation was imperative for a sustainable future.
CM grieved over deaths in Jhang accident
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of four people in a collision between a trailer and a car near Jhang.
The chief minister extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and patience for them in this difficult time.
