28 Afghans arrested for illegal stay in Gwadar
Security forces arrested 28 Afghan nationals in Kech district during an intelligence-based operation, police said. Officials said they were staying without legal documents and were later handed over to the FIA for further interrogation.

GWADAR: Security forces on Wednesday arrested 28 Afghan nationals in the Sangai area of Kech district for allegedly staying there without legal documents, according to police.
The arrests were made during an intelligence-based operation in the area, officials said. Police said the detained Afghan nationals had been living in Sangai illegally.
According to police officials, the group had entered Balochistan through Chagai district and was attempting to travel onward to Iran as part of an illegal journey intended to reach European countries. “We have arrested 28 Afghans who entered Balochistan through Chagai district and wanted to enter Iran for their illegal journey to European countries,” police officials said.
After an initial investigation, the detained Afghan nationals were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency for further interrogation, police added.
Operation in Kech district
The action took place in Sangai, an area of Kech district, where security forces carried out the intelligence-based operation on Wednesday. The arrests were linked to the alleged illegal stay of the Afghan nationals in the area, police said.
Officials said the detainees did not possess legal documents authorising their stay. The case was subsequently transferred to the FIA after preliminary questioning by police.
Further interrogation handed to FIA
Police said the Federal Investigation Agency would conduct further interrogation of the 28 Afghan nationals after they were handed over following the initial probe.
The development comes amid continued action by authorities in Balochistan involving undocumented foreign nationals and suspected irregular cross-border movement. In a separate case reported earlier this month, FIA officials said 34 undocumented Afghan nationals, including men, women and children, were arrested in Balochistan while travelling towards Gwadar, and that a case had been registered with an investigation under way.
In the latest operation, however, police specifically said the 28 Afghan nationals had entered the province through Chagai district and were seeking to cross into Iran before heading onward to Europe.
