Militants attack Border Military Police station in Dera Ghazi Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Militants attacked the Border Military Police (BMP) station in Chitarwata in the tribal area of Koh-i-Sulaiman tehsil in Punjab, according to official sources.

Koh-i-Sulaiman Political Assistant and BMP Commandant Ameer Taimoor said the assault damaged the police station building, but all BMP personnel remained unharmed.

Officials report swift response

Taimoor said law enforcement agencies moved quickly after the incident and cleared the affected site soon afterwards. He added that security arrangements in the area had been strengthened following the attack.

According to the official, surveillance of both internal and external routes had also been increased as part of the response measures.

Public urged to remain vigilant

Taimoor appealed to residents not to rely on rumours or unverified reports and asked them to promptly inform the authorities about any suspicious activity.

He said all available steps were being taken to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and to maintain peace and order in the area.

The attack took place at the BMP police station in Chitarwata, which lies in the Koh-i-Sulaiman tehsil’s tribal belt of Dera Ghazi Khan district. The information about the incident and its aftermath was provided by official sources, including the area’s political administration and BMP command.

No casualties among BMP personnel were reported by the official. The main impact described by authorities was damage to the police station structure. Taimoor said the site had been secured after the response by law enforcement agencies, while additional monitoring and tighter security were put in place in the surrounding area.
