Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders jointly press for wheat and gas rights
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister and governor set aside political differences to jointly demand the province’s rights on wheat supply and CNG. They said restrictions on flour movement and gas supply violated constitutional provisions and worsened hardship for residents.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday appeared together at a joint press conference to demand what they described as the province’s constitutional rights, with wheat supply restrictions and the suspension of CNG supply emerging as the central issues.
The press conference was held at the National Jirga Hall of the provincial assembly and was also attended by Speaker Babar Salim Swati and Opposition Leader Dr Ebadullah. The participants stressed the need for a collective effort across political lines to secure the province’s rights.
Wheat supply and constitutional provisions
Chief Minister Afridi sharply criticised the Punjab government over restrictions on wheat movement, saying the measures were harming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents. Referring to constitutional protections, he said inter-provincial movement of food items could not be blocked under Article 151 and added that people in the province were being forced to purchase the country’s most expensive flour.
