LAHORE: The Punjab government has lifted the austerity lockdown by relaxing operating hour restrictions for shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and food outlets across the province until June 1, 2026.

The decision was announced through a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, allowing businesses to remain exempt from fixed closing timings during the period.

In a separate move, Lahore’s district administration also withdrew the earlier restriction requiring markets to close at 8pm.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar said the previous deadline had been removed with immediate effect, enabling businesses to continue operating for longer hours.

He said the decision was aimed at facilitating traders and improving shopping convenience for citizens across the city.
