Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Rawalpindi, police said. The victims were identified as Azhar Iqbal, a British-returned Pakistani, and Shafiq Ahmed, a labourer from Kashmore.

RAWALPINDI: Two men were killed in separate shooting incidents in Rawalpindi, including a Pakistani citizen who had recently returned from Britain and a labourer from Kashmore, police said.
In the first case, Azhar Iqbal, a resident of Baolay Kalan, had registered a case with Jatli police, stating that he was entering his home after Isha prayers when an unidentified man came up from behind and opened fire on him.
According to the complaint, Azhar Iqbal said he suffered bullet wounds and fell to the ground, while members of his family came outside after hearing the gunfire. Rescue 1122 shifted him to hospital, where he later died during treatment.
Police sources said the deceased had returned to Pakistan from Britain a few months earlier and had remained involved in welfare activities.
Following his death, police added murder charges to the case and began efforts to trace the suspect. The complainant told police that he would be able to identify the attacker if produced before him.
Labourer shot dead in Rawat area
In a separate incident within the jurisdiction of Rawat police station, a labourer identified as Shafiq Ahmed, who belonged to Kashmore, was shot dead in what police described as a blind murder case.
Police led by SHO Ikram Bhatti reached the site after receiving information and collected evidence from the scene. Police said the victim had been shot twice in the chest.
The body was shifted to hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police said the victim’s relatives were travelling from Kashmore to Rawalpindi.
According to family members, Shafiq Ahmed worked in the folding business in Rawalpindi.
Police were investigating both incidents.
