RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed seven militants linked to the Indian-backed “Fitna Al Hindustan” during an intelligence-based sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Barkhan district on May 13, while five soldiers, including a Pakistan Army major, embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire.

According to the military’s media wing, troops of the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps Balochistan launched the operation in the Nosham area of Barkhan to eliminate terrorists operating in the region.

During the operation, security forces engaged a group of militants, killing seven terrorists and recovering weapons, ammunition and explosives from their possession.

However, five security personnel were martyred while fighting bravely during the encounter. The fallen soldiers were identified as Major Tauseef Ahmed Bhatti, a 31-year-old resident of Pakpattan, Naik Fida Hussain from Sukkur, Sepoy Zakir Hussain from Skardu, Sepoy Suhail Ahmed from Khanewal and Sepoy Muhammad Ayaz from Rahim Yar Khan.

The military said a follow-up sanitisation operation was continuing in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining militants.

The statement added that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy to eradicate foreign-sponsored militancy from the country.
