FAISALABAD: The district administration has decided to establish temporary sale points for sacrificial animals across Faisalabad 10 days before Eidul Adha and has sought contingency plans from all relevant departments as preparations begin for the annual livestock trade.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anwar Ali to finalise arrangements for cattle markets ahead of Eid, according to officials.
During the meeting, officials said the temporary sale points would be equipped with facilities intended to support both buyers and sellers during the pre-Eid trading period. These include shade, drinking water, parking and security arrangements.
The administration also outlined public management priorities for the markets, with Anwar Ali saying that cleanliness and a safe environment at cattle sale points would remain among the top concerns during the operation of the temporary sites.
Departments asked to submit plans
As part of the preparations, the ADCG directed the Livestock Department to make arrangements for vaccination of animals against tick attacks. He also instructed all concerned departments to submit their contingency plans by May 14.
The meeting was held to review and complete arrangements in advance of Eidul Adha, when cattle markets typically see a rise in activity as residents purchase sacrificial animals. The administration’s plan centres on setting up temporary sale points in different parts of the city in the 10 days leading up to the festival.
Officials said the provision of basic facilities at the designated points was aimed at making the process easier for traders bringing animals for sale as well as for residents visiting the markets to make purchases.
Security and parking were among the arrangements specifically discussed at the meeting, alongside access to drinking water and shaded areas. The administration also placed emphasis on sanitation measures at the markets, with cleanliness identified as a key operational priority.
The Livestock Department’s role will include preventive health measures for animals, particularly vaccination against tick attacks, under the directions issued at the meeting.
All relevant departments have now been asked to complete and submit their contingency planning by the May 14 deadline so that the temporary cattle sale points can be made operational ahead of Eidul Adha.
