Police in Rawalpindi arrested an Indian national in the Westridge area during a crackdown on illegal foreigners and Afghan nationals. The FIR said the man, identified as Dilbar, could not produce a visa for entry or stay in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Police in Rawalpindi arrested an Indian national in the Westridge area during an ongoing operation targeting illegal foreigners and Afghan nationals, according to a first information report.
The FIR was registered by Sub-Inspector Rajab Ali, who said he was on patrol duty at Choor Chowk to check illegal foreigners when he saw a pedestrian approaching from Misrial Road.
According to the police official, the man attempted to move away after noticing the police party, but officers stopped him and questioned him.
During the inquiry, the man identified himself as Dilbar and said he was a resident of India, police said.
Police stated that the man could not produce a visa authorising his entry into Pakistan or his stay in the country. During a body search, police recovered two ball pens, four plain papers and Rs1,750 from his possession, the FIR said.
After the arrest, police registered a case against him under the relevant section of the law.
Arrest made during checking operation
The arrest took place as police were carrying out checks in the area as part of a wider crackdown against illegal foreigners and Afghan nationals. The FIR said the patrol was specifically assigned to inspect suspected illegal foreign residents at Choor Chowk in the Westridge locality.
Sub-Inspector Rajab Ali stated in the report that the suspect was intercepted after he was seen coming from Misrial Road and then tried to slip away on seeing the police.
Police then conducted questioning and a search, after which the case was formally lodged.
Case registered under relevant law
The police report said the Indian national was unable to show documentation for lawful entry and residence in Pakistan. Following the recovery of the items listed in the FIR, authorities proceeded to register a case under the applicable legal provisions.
No further details were provided in the report about the circumstances of his arrival in Pakistan or the specific legal section invoked in the case.
The development comes amid continued action by law enforcement against people described by police as illegal foreigners, with the latest arrest reported from Rawalpindi’s Westridge area.
