Cement despatches climb 11.14% in April

Cement despatches climb 11.14% in April

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s total cement despatches rose 11.14% year-on-year in April 2026 to 3.890 million tonnes, compared with 3.500 million tonnes in the same month last year, according to data issued by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) on Monday.

The industry’s domestic despatches stood at 3.217 million tonnes in April 2026, up 20.17% from 2.677 million tonnes in April 2025. Export volumes, however, moved in the opposite direction and fell 18.22% to 673,058 tonnes from 823,032 tonnes.

Regional performance

APCMA data showed that cement mills in the northern region supplied 2.662 million tonnes to domestic markets in April, registering an 18.25% increase from 2.251 million tonnes a year earlier. There were no exports from the north during the month. As a result, total despatches by north-based mills came in at 2.662 million tonnes, reflecting a 12.52% increase.

In the southern region, local despatches reached 555,104 tonnes in April, which was 30.35% higher than 425,869 tonnes in the corresponding month of last year. Exports from the south declined 5.01% to 673,058 tonnes, compared with 708,565 tonnes in April 2025. Total despatches by south-based mills were recorded at 1.228 million tonnes, up 8.26%.

Ten-month figures

During the first ten months of the current fiscal year, combined domestic and export cement despatches totalled 42.396 million tonnes, showing an increase of 9.83% over 38.600 million tonnes in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Domestic despatches for July-April rose 11.33% to 34.785 million tonnes, while exports increased 3.47% to 7.611 million tonnes.

According to the association’s figures, north-based mills despatched 29.014 million tonnes to domestic markets during July-April, up 12.56%. Exports from the northern region, however, dropped 35.39% to 797,679 tonnes.

South-based mills posted a 5.56% increase in domestic despatches to 5.771 million tonnes during the ten-month period. Their exports rose 11.31% to 6.813 million tonnes.

Industry outlook

An APCMA spokesperson said the association expects an improved geopolitical situation in the coming weeks to support the global economy and ease uncertainty related to energy.

He also said the industry was looking to the upcoming federal budget for policies supportive of cement manufacturers and aimed at improving competitiveness in operations.
