Army top brass links regional stability to restraint and respect for sovereignty

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military leadership said on Tuesday that peace and stability in the region are tied to collective restraint, responsibility and respect for sovereignty, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) after the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference.

The meeting was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and was chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, the military’s media wing said.

The forum reviewed the broader regional security situation and discussed the implications of recent geopolitical developments. The military leadership said these developments carry serious consequences for regional peace and security.

In its assessment of the situation, the top brass stressed the importance of restraint and the need to preserve regional stability amid tensions in the Middle East. The statement said the forum viewed the evolving geopolitical environment as having significant implications for stability across the region.

“Deliberating on the broader regional security environment, the forum noted that emerging geopolitical developments carry significant implications for regional stability.”

The statement followed the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference, one of the military’s key high-level consultative forums, convened at GHQ in Rawalpindi. The conference was presided over by Field Marshal Asim Munir in his capacity as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces.

The military’s position, as conveyed through the ISPR, underscored that regional peace and stability are intrinsically linked to collective restraint, responsibility and respect for sovereignty. The emphasis came against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which the military leadership said require caution in order to avoid further instability.

Geo News reported that the top brass emphasised restraint and the need to maintain regional stability amid Middle East tensions, while Dawn, citing the same ISPR statement, said the forum linked peace and stability in the region to collective restraint, responsibility and respect for sovereignty.

Conference held at GHQ

The conference took place at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where the country’s senior military commanders met under the chairmanship of Field Marshal Asim Munir. The ISPR statement focused on the regional security environment and the possible impact of geopolitical shifts on peace and stability.

The military leadership’s remarks highlighted a consistent theme in the statement: that restraint, responsibility and respect for sovereignty remain central to preserving stability in a volatile regional environment.
