LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen will face Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 of the HBL Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, with the winner advancing to the final against Peshawar Zalmi.
Hyderabad head into the contest with strong momentum, having won six of their last seven matches — a turnaround that has taken them from the lower end of the table to serious title contenders. Captain Marnus Labuschagne credited the team’s consistency and belief following their convincing win over Multan Sultans in Eliminator 1.
Islamabad, meanwhile, have had a mixed run in recent games, winning three and losing two, but rely on their experience as three-time champions under Shadab Khan.
Both teams have shared one win each in their head-to-head meetings this season, highlighting a closely matched contest. Hyderabad’s batting has been led by Usman Khan, supported by Labuschagne and Maaz Sadaqat, while their bowling attack has been driven by Mohammad Ali and Hunain Shah.
Islamabad’s key performers include Sameer Minhas and Devon Conway with the bat, while Shadab leads their bowling unit alongside Richard Gleeson.
The winner of Friday’s match will secure a place in the final, while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament. Crowd turnout is expected to improve due to the Labour Day holiday.
