ISLAMABAD: Tourist activity increased in the hill stations of Galiyat and Thandiani as rising temperatures in different parts of Pakistan prompted visitors to head to cooler areas during the recent three-day weekend.
According to details, a large number of tourists travelled to the two destinations to escape the heat and make use of the milder weather. Families and other travellers from across the country visited the region, where the cooler climate and natural scenery drew significant interest.
Visitors were seen spending time in the open air and taking in the green landscape and wide views that have made both locations popular for short leisure trips. The weather also created suitable conditions for outdoor recreation, including picnics, hiking and sightseeing.
Local authorities reported a marked rise in traffic heading towards both areas during the holiday period. At the same time, hotels, guest houses and restaurants recorded high occupancy as visitor numbers climbed.
Administrative arrangements made for visitors
Authorities said administrative steps were taken to manage the increased movement of vehicles and help facilitate tourists arriving in the area. These measures were aimed at maintaining smoother traffic flow as the number of visitors rose over the weekend.
The influx reflected the seasonal appeal of the two hill stations, which continue to attract people looking for short breaks in cooler surroundings when temperatures increase in the plains.
Tourists expressed satisfaction with both the weather and the natural setting, saying Galiyat and Thandiani remain among the preferred destinations for weekend travel. The pleasant conditions, combined with the scenic environment, contributed to the strong turnout seen over the three-day break.
More visitors expected if weather remains favourable
Officials expect tourist inflows to increase further in the coming weeks if the current weather pattern continues. They said a sustained rise in visitor numbers would support local tourism and contribute to economic activity in the area.
The latest increase in travel to Galiyat and Thandiani comes as hill stations typically see greater interest during warmer periods, when tourists seek relief from high temperatures in cities and other lowland areas.
With hotels and restaurants already seeing strong business during the recent holiday, local tourism stakeholders are likely to benefit further if the trend continues in the weeks ahead.
