Sector I-12 allottees seek plot possession

ISLAMABAD: Allottees in Islamabad’s Sector I-12 have called on the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to speed up infrastructure work and announce a clear schedule for handing over plot possession, saying uncertainty continues despite recent movement in the process.

The CDA has started receiving applications from allottees seeking possession in the sector. However, plot owners said the absence of a formal announcement and a defined timeline has left the process unclear for many applicants.

Tariq Nawaz, an overseas Pakistani and an allottee in the sector, said the prolonged delay had caused deep frustration for families waiting to build homes. "I have been waiting for more than 10 years to get possession of my plot so that I can build a house for my family," he said, adding that he had invested his savings in the hope of settling in Islamabad.

Another allottee, Shahid Iqbal, said the lack of transparency was adding to the confusion among plot owners. "CDA is accepting applications for possession, but there is no formal announcement or timeline. This creates confusion among allottees who are unsure about the next steps," he said.

He further said that many allottees were hoping to use subsidised financing available under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Scheme to build their houses, but they could not benefit from the facility without first receiving possession of their plots.

Long wait continues for allottees

The allottees said the start of the application process was a welcome step, but stressed that it should be followed by a transparent and time-bound plan for actual possession. They said a timely handover would help fulfil a long-pending commitment and allow families to begin construction.

They also said that receiving possession would help reduce financial pressure on many plot owners who have remained in limbo for years.

A large number of allottees have been waiting for more than a decade, and in some cases even longer, to take possession of their plots in Sector I-12. The delay has created financial strain and prolonged uncertainty, particularly for overseas Pakistanis and retirees who intend to settle in the federal capital.

The allottees have urged the civic authority to move beyond the initial application stage and provide clarity on when possession will be granted, saying that a defined schedule is necessary to remove confusion and enable affected families to plan their next steps.
