Balochistan public universities’ budget raised to Rs8bn, says governor
Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail says the budget of public sector universities has been increased from Rs2.5bn to Rs8bn. He made the announcement while inaugurating two new facilities at BUITEMS in Quetta.

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail said on Monday that the government had moved the province’s higher education sector from crisis towards recovery and increased the budget for public sector universities from Rs2.5 billion to Rs8 billion.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the High Voltage Engineering Laboratory and the Facilities Strengthening Centre at BUITEMS University.
According to the details shared at the event, Vice Chancellor BUITEMS Dr Khalid Hafeez, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Mirwais Kasi, Principal Secretary to the Governor Abdul Nasser Dotani, Director P&D BUITEMS Dr Saeedullah Jan Mandokhail and heads of relevant departments were also present.
Governor Mandokhail said, “It has been made possible through vision and teamwork, and meaningful reforms have been introduced in all public sector universities of Balochistan,” adding that the rise in the allocation from Rs2.5bn to Rs8bn had supported institutional development and renovation work across universities.
He said the decisions taken in the sector had led to better rankings and improved performance of universities in the province, and had helped lay the groundwork for quality education.
New facilities inaugurated at BUITEMS
The governor said the opening of the High Voltage Engineering Laboratory and the Facilities Strengthening Centre at BUITEMS showed the province’s commitment to sustainable development and progress.
He was also briefed about both projects during the ceremony.
The announcement comes amid the provincial government’s stated focus on strengthening higher education institutions in Balochistan. At the BUITEMS event, the governor linked the increase in funding with broader reforms introduced in public sector universities across the province.
He said the enhanced budget had created room for institutional improvement and rehabilitation, while also contributing to academic progress in the province’s universities.
The inauguration ceremony at BUITEMS highlighted two new facilities that the provincial leadership presented as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and academic support in higher education.
Governor Mandokhail reiterated that the progress in the sector was the result of coordinated efforts and policy decisions aimed at improving the condition of public universities in Balochistan.
“It has been made possible through vision and teamwork, and meaningful reforms have been introduced in all public sector universities of Balochistan,” Governor Mandokhail said.
He maintained that the increase in the universities’ budget and the launch of new facilities reflected continued work towards development in the province’s higher education sector.
