The European Union is set to provide Pakistan with a €160 million loan package for flood recovery in Sindh and water supply improvement in Karachi. Agreements with the European Investment Bank are scheduled to be signed on April 28.

ISLAMABAD: The European Union is set to provide Pakistan with €160 million in financing to support flood-affected communities and improve water supply infrastructure in Karachi, with agreements scheduled to be signed on April 28.
The financing agreements will be finalised between the European Investment Bank and the Government of Pakistan.
Of the total package, €100 million will be allocated for rehabilitation efforts in flood-hit areas of Sindh. The funding is expected to support the construction of around 2.1 million homes aimed at resettling families affected by recent floods.
Officials said the remaining funds will be directed towards improving water supply systems in Karachi, addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in the city.
The initiative forms part of broader international support for Pakistan’s recovery and climate resilience efforts following devastating floods in recent years.
