Woman abused, slapped on Lahore Metro after standing up to moral policing

A disturbing incident on the Lahore Metrobus has triggered outrage after a young woman was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a group of women over her clothing.

According to widely circulated videos, the confrontation began when a group of burqa-clad women objected to the girl’s attire, despite it appearing well within reasonable and socially acceptable norms. In response, the girl pushed back verbally, at one point saying she “wouldn’t even spit” on them. Moments later, one of the women slapped her, turning the confrontation into a physical assault.

The video has sparked widespread condemnation online, with many calling the behaviour unacceptable and highlighting the dangers of moral policing in public spaces. Critics pointed out that no individual or group has the right to enforce personal beliefs on others through intimidation or violence.
